Our location central on Vancouver Island makes The Mountainaire Campground and RV Park the perfect place from which to base your Island vacation. We're right between Ladysmith and Nanaimo, just a few kilometres from the Nanaimo Airport. It's hard to believe that so much rural charm exists only a scant 5 kilometres from the hustle and bustle of the TransCanada Highway. A short hour drive to Victoria's famous inner harbour, a couple minutes longer in the other direction to Port Alberni, home of the whale watching tours. Campbell River is just 90 or so minutes up the road, where a great day spent fishing could net you one of the island's famous Tyhee salmon or maybe a halibut. Have you ever been surfing? Tofino offers Canada's best surfing and it's only a couple of hours away, too.

From Nanaimo:

Travel about 10 km south on the TransCanada highway and watch for our sign near Spruston Road, you'll also notice the radar sign and the flashing yellow light over the road. Turn right onto Spruston Road, be sure to honk when you go under the railway bridge, and proceed about 5 km up the road. We're on the right hand side, on Loftus Road where it splits away from Spruston.

From Victoria:

Travel North past the Nanaimo Airport and then watch for the U-turn Route sign on your right. Take the U-turn route to head back South on the TransCanada highway and watch for our sign near Spruston Road, you'll also notice the radar sign and the flashing yellow light over the road. Turn right onto Spruston Road, be sure to honk when you go under the railway bridge, and proceed about 5 km up the road. We're on the right hand side, on Loftus Road where it splits away from Spruston.

About the Bridge:

I know that bridge looks low and narrow… and it is! But despite how it looks, the bridge has fourteen feet of clearance and enough room for your RV to get around.... providing you honk and let others know that you're on your way through. So just do like the locals, listen and then give a honk!
